The Lord Of The Rings is the famous work of J.R.R Tolkien.
It has been elected best book of the 20st century.
The movie based on the first of the three books was released Christmas 2001.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen!
As two reviewers on Amazon said: "An astonishing masterpiece".
It is available on Blu-ray, on DVD (with a lot of extras, 2 discs), in an
extended version (30 minutes extra) on 4 DVDs and as a gift set (with
bookshelve statues).
Now all three parts are available: "The fellowship of the ring",
"The two towers" and "The return of the king". It's hard to say which one is
best. They each have their own highlights. The third part received eleven
oscars! Most people will want to get all three parts, since that is the only
way to see the whole story.
I recommend getting the 4-DVD version. The main reason is that many scenes
have been restored that were cut out to make the theatrical release fit in the
cinema schedule. Also, the extras are very interesting. These are not those
half-hour "behind the scenes" that only get you interested in seeing the movie.
They are complete documentaries about the locations, actors and effects used.
The only disadvantage is that there is so much to watch that you can't see it
all in one evening!
Buying the DVD or Blu-ray through these links will send 5% to 15% of the sales to
ICCF Holland. The money is used to help orphans in Uganda (see the
home page).
